Miami's aqua helmet with a leaping dolphin debuted in 1966 — and for nearly five decades the dolphin in the logo famously wore its own tiny football helmet. The 2013 redesign streamlined the mark, dropping the helmet from the dolphin and adding a sunburst. Both versions are heavily collected, with the "helmet-wearing dolphin" throwback a fan favorite.

- The 1972 Dolphins remain the only team in NFL history to finish a season undefeated and win the Super Bowl.
